Hi,

i think u not reformat the D disk...
the D disk is unallocated.So,
at disk management make D disk as new partition and reformat it...
it will be shown in windows...

Good Luck

I've seen this, Windows XP cannot read data in drives which were not formatted before and will show as either inaccessible OR blank.
In this case, Vista is able to detect unformatted drives without problems. Such as in most situations of external hardrives. They are partitioned but cannot be read or detected properly in XP. Any new hard drive must be formatted before they can be used in XP. If I'm not wrong

1st, you didn't mention how many real HD you have.. But i assume it is probably one and your local disk D is probably your logical drive / partition..
what you mean by "when i format my win xp, i have one local disk only."? you mean you can only see one local C as your available option while at the blue setup screen of XP?
Let's see, since you can see two local disk in disk management, try right click the one (local D) and open/explore it, if it works, then it's just some settings problem (in other word, you had hide the local D from showing..) i forgot where to tune this setting from XP but u can try to depend on third party software to do it.. such as TuneUp 2009, or XP powertoys TweakXP... of coz, some of them are not free but u can use the trial version instead.. :D

Good luck then.. :-)

I think you will have to reformat it and after formatting you may restore your important data using data recovery software.. best of luck..

Try assign a drive letter to that "D" drive of yours, see whether it will work or not.

Another way is to boot your computer using a Live CD, then copy the entire contents into another HDD. Then only you format that drive.
